Last-mile and carrier operations
Last-mile delivery and carrier operations: dispatch, driver safety scorecards, hiring funnels and carrier credential checks.

Last-mile and carrier operations, in plain terms.
Last-mile and carrier operations come down to four questions: who is assigned which route, whether the vehicle is ready, whether the driver is safe and on time, and whether the carrier is who it says it is. Dispatch runs on written rules, drivers see their own scorecard every week, and carrier credentials are checked before a load moves.

Practice
- Dispatch operations and route planning
- Fleet readiness
- Driver safety and quality scorecards
- High-volume driver hiring funnels
- Peak-season launch and rapid capacity standup
- On-time SLA management
- Carrier credential verification (MC and USDOT numbers)
- Bill of lading control and chain of custody
What the work covered
- A last-mile delivery station opened in October 2022 and operated through February 2025, with 40 delivery vans and 100 employees
- Carrier credential checks and dual-signature bills of lading on about 120 transporter movements a week at a dealership
The deliverable.
Drivers who see their own scorecard every week, dispatch that runs on written rules, and a hiring funnel measured at every step.
No surprises.
What is chain-of-custody documentation?+
A record of who held a vehicle or load at every handoff, in what condition, and when. In vehicle transport it is a bill of lading signed by both parties at pickup and at delivery.
What is a bill of lading?+
The contract and receipt for a shipment. It lists what was picked up, its condition, who carries it and where it is going.
